Job Title: Development Associate/Senior Development Associate

Salary range: $50,000- $85,000

Location: Remote with occasional in-person time

We’re open to hiring at different levels for this position, depending on a candidate’s experience.

Candidates with general or limited relevant experience will be considered for an Associate-level role, with a salary range of $50,000–$70,000. Candidates with 1 or more years of relevant fundraising experience will be considered for the Senior Associate-level role, with a salary range of $60,000–$85,000.

Greenlight America is a young non-profit that mobilizes grassroots power to win local siting and permitting campaigns for clean energy projects. We do this by partnering with local groups and activists to run strategic campaigns that win approval for clean energy projects in their communities. Our founding team has led some of the largest grassroots organizing networks in the country, and we are building a scalable model for engaging and mobilizing local residents in support of clean energy.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Development Associate will play a vital role in supporting Greenlight's fundraising operations as we work to resource Greenlight America and Greenlight Action's combined fundraising goals. This position will be responsible for prospect and donor research, maintaining donor database systems, tracking fundraising projections and prospects, and ensuring proper document management. We are excited to bring on an organized and detail-oriented team member to strengthen our fundraising infrastructure!

A preferred candidate for this position will have experience with donor prospecting and research, operations, exceptional organizational skills, and strong attention to detail. They will be a proactive team player with excellent project management abilities and a passion for clean energy.

The position is remote and reports to the Development Director.

PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct prospect research to identify new institutional funders and prospects and gather info on existing donors
  • Maintain and regularly update fundraising projections and prospect tracking systems to support strategic fundraising decisions
  • Maintain and regularly update development CRM for active and prospective donors
  • Manage stewardship projects, including the following:
  • coordinating thank-you notes and donor acknowledgements
  • assisting with components of stewardship projects such as end-of-year cards, branded merchandise, and donor updates
  • supporting donor events with logistics and administrative support
  • developing contact lists and managing logistics such as mass emails and other donor touchpoints
  • Other special projects as needed
  • Oversee document management, including organizing and maintaining fundraising materials, proposals, and reports in appropriate file systems
  • Support the Development Director and fundraising team with operational needs to ensure smooth operation of development activities

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Key Qualifications Required (for Associate-level):

  • Interest or experience in nonprofit development, fundraising operations, or administrative support.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to discretion and confidentiality when handling donor information.
  • Passion for clean energy and climate work.

Additional Qualifications (for Senior-level):

  • 1+ years of professional experience in development operations, fundraising, prospect research, or related roles.
  • Knowledge of and experience with climate or clean energy work.
  • Experience using donor databases or CRMs (e.g., EveryAction, Candid, ActBlue, etc.).
  • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles and best practices.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The base annual salary for this position is ($50,000-$85,000). We offer an excellent benefits package which includes 100% employer paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off, monthly technology stipend, and retirement contributions through 401k and Roth plans.

Placement within the stated salary range will be determined based on the candidate’s years of relevant professional experience.
